Likely offering more variation than any other system out there, with colors ranging from Arctic White to Cotton Candy Pink, one might be tempted to think the Nintendo DS is colorful enough. Well, not so...at least, so say Crayola and Crave Entertainment, who’ve just signed an agreement to bring a game based on the famous crayons to Nintendo’s two-screened handheld. Not even offering up a name or expected date, not much is known about the Crayola game at this time, except that it will be set in locations throughout the world, with players using crayons to solve mazes, puzzles and mini-games in order to find hidden treasure. VGGEN will be sure to keep an eye on this title, of course, and the full press release can be found below, as always:
Crave Entertainment, a leading publisher of console videogames, announced today that it will partner with Crayola® to bring the company’s much-loved crayons to Nintendo DSTM screens.
Set in exciting locations around the globe, Crave Entertainment’s upcoming Crayola game will lead players on a colorful romp to find hidden treasure. Armed only with a treasure map and Crayola crayons, players can draw and color their way through challenging obstacles and exciting mini-games to complete quests and discover the treasure.
“Crayola crayons are an integral part of American childhood,” said Mark Burke, senior vice president of product planning and business development for Crave Entertainment. “We’re honored to be partnering with a company that has been synonymous with childhood creativity for more than a century to bring a classic piece of American culture to an entirely new medium.
Since its inception in 1903, the Crayola brand has grown into one of the most respected and recognizable brands in the consumer marketplace. Today consumers equate the brand with color, fun, quality and development-all the characteristics that are reinforced in their growing product line which includes crayons, markers, colored pencils, paints, modeling compounds and craft and activity products for use in schools and homes. The brand has come a long way since the first box of 8 Crayola crayons made its debut in 1903. Currently the company makes more than 100 different crayon colors as well as an array of materials to stimulate children's creative development - while having fun!
